Welcome to another edition of SATELLITE SELECTS - this time, we are looking at releases from March 2021 curated on our official Spotify playlist. We contributed a release to this list with Distant Arrays Volume 03, the third edition of our various artist series.
BOP - Perehod EP (Hospital Records)

Released on March 5th, 2021 - support on Bandcamp here
Microfunk maestro BOP returns onto our radar with a club-ready EP and some of his best work yet. Rather than sticking to his usual formula of low-fidelity, glitchy, slightly melancholic drum 'n' bass, Perehod EP dives onto the dancefloor with a more full-spectrum sound. Though some of his recognizable traits can still be heard, the project feels more mature and accessible to a larger audience of clubgoers. Its groovy tendencies are always met with lush, emotive pads, reminding me that warm weather and better days are near.
Favorite tracks: NDE, Beach Simulator 3D, Hiding
Tangent - Evolutionary Origins (n5MD)

Released on March 12th, 2021 - support on Bandcamp here
Oakland-based record label n5MD has continued to have a strong influence on us over the years. They have been a driving force in the U.S. ambient/electronica community for decades now and already have made 2021 a great year for their fanbase. The label's newest offering comes from Dutch duo Tangent with Evolutionary Cycles, their third full-length album released with the West Coast crew. The record travels through what we have come to expect from the duo, yet with a slight twist - an ambient setting and golden-age electronica meet dub techno influences and an overall cold, hollow feeling.
Favorite tracks: Imminent Transformation, Empty Waves, Isolated Mechanisms
ZULI - All Caps (UIQ)

Released on March 12th, 2021 - support on Bandcamp here
Egyptian club king ZULI returns with some of his most demanding work yet. Over the last few years, many of his tracks have made it onto the biggest stages around the world, all becoming secret dancefloor weapons for DJ sets. All Caps, his first release in nearly three years, picks up right where he left off and delivers six rhythmic, bass-heavy, and downright grotesque tracks. I do not think I will ever get tired of hearing what ZULI has to contribute to club music.
Favorite tracks: Keen Demag, Penicillin Duck, Bassous
We hope you enjoy our selection of new music to discover; a typed list is provided below for archiving purposes as the Spotify playlist is updated each month to showcase new releases.
